Serve

Biblical orthodoxy without compassion is surely the ugliest thing in the world. - Francis Schaeffer

Jesus said that He did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mt 20:28) If we study Jesus, compassion is constantly in sight. The poor, disenfranchised and afflicted surrounded Jesus. He gave them health and hope, along with a strong dose of friendship.

At Refuge Church, we try hard to follow this example. We partner with food banks, homeless ministries and other organizations to try to bring hope and goodness to the world around us. Current service projects include:

  • New Horizons Ministries, a Seattle based mission that serves Seattle's street population.
  • Thomas Lumba, with IN Network in Zambia. Thomas and his organization bring education, santiation and relief to a popualation that has been torn apart by HIV/AIDS
  • Refuge has a running food donation ministry in partnership with Hope Link. You can bring non-perishable food to any service, and you'll find the donation box in our lobby.
  • Every year at Christmas, we team up with Living Water International and the Advent Conspiracy to bring clean water to under developed parts of the world.
  • We also serve inside the church, helping with kids, youth, grounds, hospitality and welcoming guests.
